3The Hard Way Compilation Mix – Heavy Weights

3The Hard Way Compilation Mix – The Heavy Weights

As we endeavor to bring you more reggae music from our shores and closer to the artists to get to know their music we present to you: Three The Hard Way Compilation Mixes. 3The Hard Way is a series of mixes featuring Southern African Reggae Dancehall artists who are currently active in the scene. The series mix compiles music from 3 Artists for you to indulge in, rate, comment and support the artists through buying their music. 3The Hard way Series is not about pitting artists against each other but rather zooming in on their craft. We giving you Mzansi’s reggae music in small doses of three, for your listening pleasure and for the love of Reggae.

This is the second series in line called, 3The Hard Way: Heavy Weights. The three artists represent diverse styles and have created their own niche in the market. They each represent Mzansi’s Reggae and Dancehall in different market segements. Black Dillinger is the foremost exponent of Reggae from our shores on an international setting, while NC Dread has managed to infiltrate the impenetrable African market and Bongo Riot has got the local flavour heavily on lock. They all have won awards in recognition for their works and are still going hard in fine tuning their crafts. We anticipate a big tune to come out from either one of them that will massively change the direction of Reggae in Mzansi, in the not so distant future.

In the meantime between time, hear this compilation mixed by the most consistent DJ in Mzansi, DJ ThuliThulz. Check out the first Mix: 3The Hard Way: Young Lions

Featured Artists

Black Dilliinger –@originalblackdillinger
Black Dillinger finally got his highest recognition when the South African Recording Industry honored him with the Best Reggae Album Award for 2019 for his album Mavara is King. But Black Dillinger has been at it for the longest time and has been massively acknowledged in the Reggae Dancehall circles in Mzansi. In this mix we showcase some of the works that, are mainly not in the Award Winning Album, but from his large body of work that he has amassed over the years working with both local and international producers and artists alike. He is a fierce supporter and promoter of Mzansi Reggae and a heavy weight in the scene.

NC Dread – @ncdread
If there was an award for hard work, dedication and hustling, then it will go to NC Dread. His debut album, Hustle, explains it all. He started off, relatively unknown, selling/giving away his first Mix at the dances, a gesture that would later see him rise to be recognised as one of the best Dancehall artists in Mzansi. He kept the same hustling energy as he entered the African Dancehall scene that would see him collaborating with Africa’s heavy weights in Reggae and Dancehall, the likes of Shatta Wale, Wyrie, inked a collabo with sensational female pop stars Selma Sky [Zambia] and Seyi Sheyi [Nigeria] and possibly one of the very few to collaborate with Nkulee Dube [SA].. He got nominated at the Ghana Music Awards [SA], The Bass Awards [Ghana] and won the artist of the year at the Reggae Dancehall Awards [SA]; The singjay, songwriter and performer with a distinctive delivery has earned his spot at the top.

Bongo Riot – @mphikeleli_riot_zungu
The much celebrated dancehall artist Bongo Riot – The Dancehall Wankanda from Jozi  released an Album – Next Levels – produced by Powertainment Sound and Distributed by Bantu Media. The album got  nominated in South African Music Awards 2019 for Best Reggae Album which Black Dillinger won. The Dancehall Wakanda is signed to Powertainment after a short stint with Baak A Yard label. He is heavily popular in the local dances and always makes an appearance to perform his popular kasi anthems like Dlozi Lam and Amapakistan.
