Dancehall Reggae music and culture has found a new home on the airwaves at Tshwane FM, a community Radio Station that covers the Pretoria Tshwane area stretching all the way out to Diepsloot just after midrand. It was a chance encounter at the Radio Station, when King Manqoba, the producer of the show, was invited to play a live set on air, that he saw an opportunity, approached management and the rest as they say, is history.
The show is only 3 weeks old but its already creating a buzz and garnering listenership daily. It is only an hour long yet manages to pack enough Reggae and dancehall content to leave you satisfied. Highlight of the show though, is the artist interview slot, already the Huni Muchoto chanter, Teban Cee has graced the studios, to be followed by the inseparable duo, Codread and Momo Dread. The Capital Reggae and Dancehall show is hosted by Jah Humble, Nafy Dread and Empres Jah-Love, with King Manqoba as the producer. This could arguably be the first and only show that caters strictly for Reggae and Dancehall in the Capital City, hence the name of the show, CAPITAL Reggae and Dancehall Show. Although its main target audience may be students, it is really garnering audiences outside the campus and reaching out to Reggae lovers and supporters in general.
“People can expect the Old and New Reggae Dancehall tracks, Countdown, Artist of the week, Live mixes of DJs and Interviews with artists..not forgeting the Topic of the day: Rastafari Message.” Manqoba King Winner.
