Global Reggae Charts – February 2018

Global Reggae Charts Magazine – Issue #10 / February 2018

February 16th, 2018 is the 18th birthday of a new rising artist from Jamaica called Koffee. With two singles released and both of them charting in the top 10 of the Global Reggae Single Charts, it is an honor to feature her on the title page of the new Global Reggae Charts magazine. Happy Birthday, Mikayla Simpson a.k.a. Koffee. We are sure, that this is only the beginning and that we will hear a lot of her in the future. But, as we all know, it is not necessarily easy to make the change from a buzzing newcomer artist to a well working, long living career in the music business. Therefore we started a series of articles about „Reggae Careers in the Internet Age“.

When looking at the single charts, we find very few new releases on it. As in the past months, Alborosie stays at #1 of the single charts. Lila Iké has a re-entry at #6 and Koffee placed her second single „Raggamuffin“ at #10. All other positions on the top 10 just changed positions. After three months at #20, New Kingston finally managed to jump to #11 with their single „Come From Far“. Beyond that, we have a re-entry from Macka B – „Wha Me Eat (Remix)“ at #14 and new entries from the French artist Joe Pilgrim & the Ligerians (Migrants) and Californian band Stick Figure (Easy Runaway).

On the album charts, we can find a little more change. Third months on the charts, Randy Valentine and his, New Narrative“ album, made it to #1. There are two new albums including legendary drum and bass duo Sly & Robbie. „Overdubbed“ is a remix album by Dubmatix, working on Sly & Robbie productions and French artist Mo’Kalamity produced her latest album „One Love Vibration“ together with Sly & Robbie and entered the Global Reggae Charts at #14. Other new entries coming from Royal Sounds (#17), Hollie Cook (#18), and Iba Mahr (#20).

Global Reggae Charts - December 2017

The riddim charts are only released for the second time this month. But we already can see, that the riddim business is much faster than the album industry. Three of five positions are new on the riddim charts, including #1 position „Nice & Easy Riddim“ by Oneness Productions out of Germany. The other two new entries are „Civil Rights Riddim“ by Giddimani Records and „Episodes Riddim“ by Yellow Moon Records.

The charts are online and can be found at www.globalreggaecharts.com. Voter registration is now open as well. Visit the site for all the details.
