As we endeavor to bring you more reggae music from our shores and closer to the artists to get to know their music we present to you: Three The Hard Way Compilation Mixes. 3The Hard Way is a series of mixes featuring Southern African Reggae Dancehall artists who are currently active in the scene. The series mix compiles music from 3 Artists for you to indulge in, rate, comment and support the artists through buying their music. The people who make music, especially emerging artists would appreciate the response to be able to improve on their craft and gauge their audiences. 3The Hard way Series is not about pitting artists against each other but rather zooming in on their craft. We giving you Mzansi’s reggae music in small doses of three, for your listening pleasure and for the love of Reggae.

The first series in line is called, 3The Hard Way: Young Lions. The three artists are on the rise and represent diverse styles and they come from Mzansi’s 3 major reggae zones: Limpopo, Gauteng and KZN.

Ras Canly – @Ras Canly
Phalanndwa Funanani Canly known as Ras Canly is an award winning Reggae and Dancehall artist hailing from the Reggae province of ancient Limpopo. His song scooped the coveted title Song of the Year at the prestigious Tshivenda Music Awards [TSHIMA] in 2017, making it the first Reggae Dancehall song to ever win that title in the history of the awards and in South Africa in general. Ras Canly was also nominated in the Best Newcomer category and Reggae Album of the Year category, making it a total of three nominations

The sublime track Ndi Funa Venda pays homage to venda and declares its undying love for TshiVenda, the culture and its people. It appears at number ten on the Mzansi Reggae Essential Mixtape for 2017. One inna Million, a combination track and video with longtime partner Bomo, dropped on Youtube garnering over 10k views in its first week of release. In that same year Vhutshilo Rito Fhana hit the streets of Venda and the radio stations could not stop playing it and subsequently the track was voted Song of The Year at the Tshivenda Music Awards. Luwe Da Lion -@Luwe Da Lion
Luwe Da Lion, real name Lunga Wela, is a reggae singer and song-writer from Durban. He is fast gaining waves of interest in his local music industry with his fresh sound which is setting him apart from his peers. Luwe fell in love with the creation of music and began writing songs at the age of 15 working with a number of artists from different genres. In 2008 he then recorded his first song which was a hip hop track followed by an EP in 2009 titled Dusty Voices EP. With his experience in song-writing it was easy for him to express himself and speak with rhythm through music. He performed all around Kwa-Zulu Natal and he had his first performance outside the province in 2010 in the mother city, Cape Town, where he performed alongside Cape Town artists. After being inspired by reggae music in 2010, he returned to Durban and began working on his first reggae project which was produced by Plan B. In 2013 he released an album titled Journey to Zion and later released Journey to Zion delux edition. Thereafter in 2016 he and Plan B released an EP titled Hunting Season (sweet reggae sound). Botanist – @Botanist Music
Mohlomi Emmanuel Matlhodi better known as Botanist, was born in the Vaal Triangle in Evaton south of Johannesburg. Botanist was drawn to music at the tender age of 8. He started as a pianist and vocalist ,he fell in love with reggae music at 11 years old and has never looked back since. His arsenal of skill include being a drummer, bassist and session artists for Neo Soul. His music career took off in 2016 when he was signed under Maximum Stylez Records with the success of an EP: The High Way which was later fueled by singles Summertime , Miss Goodie and of course a high-end music video of Faith.
