Mzansi DJs Showcase on World Rebirth Mixtape Contest
Reggae Vibes Music, a Jamaican and American based Record Label released a rhythm driven compilation dubbed World Rebirth Riddim earlier in the year. The ten track project features music from some of the most revered artists within the reggae industry: Anthony B, Jah Cure, Lutan Fyah, Turbulence, Yami Bolo, Rufftop Rock I, Tony Curtis, Powerman and Ginjah.
They then came up with a creative concept of promoting the Riddim, involving the DJ’s, who are very instrumental in the promotion spreading of Reggae and Dancehall Music worldwide. It is mostly through their mixes, and recently with their Live Stream Sessions that one gets to know and appreciate new Riddims as they come out. So it was a fitting exercise, on the part of Reggae Vibes to show some love and appreciation to the DJs and Selektors who are consistently pushing Reggae Vibes.
In the beginning of September, they launched the World Rebirth Riddim Mixtape Contest, inviting all Mixtape DJ’sdeejays/veejays to showcase their skills, highlight their brands and also Win Prizes. The objective of the contests serves to unite mixtape DJs, artists, sponsors and music industry influencers while promoting the songs on the riddim driven Reggae project.
The first placed winner will receive USD$500, the second placed gets USD$200 and the third place gets USD$100 with the top 10 finalists receiving Reggae Vibes Wear gift vouchers and other prizes and suprises.
South African DJ’s heeded the call and submitted their works, representing Mzansi on the growing global Reggae scene. With the Content closed for submissions (30 September 2020) and waiting for the announcement of the final Winner, Here is the list of the South African Entries standing head to head with Reggae Dancehall top and emerging DJ’s from Jamaica to Nigeria.
