Lufuno Munzhelele Live Session 2021

Lufuno Munzhelele in collaboration with MEC Media, The National Arts Council and Adziambei Music Academy brings you the 4th edition of LUFUNO MUNZHELELE LIVE Session which will be streamed on 29 May 2021 on MEC Media YouTube and FaceBook Pages from 18:00.

In 2017 Lufuno Munzhelele released a collaboration track Li do da duvha (The day shall come)  with a young Hip Hop crew Na KingsFam from Makwilidza as his first single, bridging the generation gap to critical success. He then retreated behind the scenes  in assisting Adziambei Music Academy, run by Chairman Ras Era Netshishivhe with distributions and marketing of artists. He co-produced Limpopo’s first successful Riddim, Lockdown Inity, together with Steve ‘Dub Master’ Netshishivhe. He is also credited as Rhythm guitarist on the Dub Master’s Album Tribulation and Dub. He worked tirelessly in preparing for the launch of Kenny Wailer Murabi 5th studio Album EZOP, which had to be cancelled due to the lockdown that was imposed just before the launch. He was involved in the project to market and distribute Dr. Colbert Mukwevho and Kenny Wailers EP – Down But Not Out, with the proceeds of the album going to charity.

Every year he creates a space for himself where he showcases his own music through the Live sessions which started 4 years ago and keeping up with the times, the sessions are now streamed. Lufuno’s performances have always been energetic and entertaining, while taking the viewers on a journey of a musical experience. Him and the band worked hard to get the sound that they can truly claim their own.

This year’s Live Session 2021 series was recorded live at Idani Park, Tshilavulu (Thulamela Municipality) on 01 May 2021. The Band which gave a sterling performance was comprised of Ndivhuwo Musetha on Drums, Steve ‘DubMaster’ Netshishivhe’ on Bass, Osborn Ntimbani on Lead Guitar, Wanga ‘BestPro’ Mukwevho on Keys, Mbengeni Munzhelele on Backing Vocals with Lufuno on Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar. The most awaited live collaboration of the popular track ‘Li do da duvha’ was finally realised as the KingsFam group joined Lufuno on stage to deliver an all star performance fitting to close the show and once more the power of diversity in Reggae was shown by combining Roots Reggae and pure Hip Hop to bring a unique sounding track.

“The online platform has given the show a boost as we are now able to concentrate more on the production and the performances that have potential to reach millions of people worldwide. Although we miss having fans on the show, this is another opportunity to seek new way of doing things. We are already planning on how we can accommodate few spectators in our coming shows while taking precautions to protect the health and lives of our people.” – Lufuno Munzhelele
