Reggae Sounds of Freedom to Ring in Stellenbosch

Reggae Sounds of Freedom to Ring in Stellenbosch

Sounds of Freedom

Often referred to as Stellies by the student population, famous for its Wine Route and scenic landscape and popular destination for tourists; South Africa’s second oldest town in the Western Cape province will host a Reggae Concert – Sounds of Freedom – on April 27, Freedom Day. This year marks the 28th year of the so-called Democracy in South Africa. On this day some of Cape Town’s hard working Reggae ambassadors, artist and musicians will lend their creative talent to celebrate Freedom Day through songs of freedom to honour those that fought the good fight to drive change in the country. Concert attendees can expect to be inspired and captivated by Roots Reggae, Dub and Dancehall.

The venue choice, The Daisy Jones Bar, is quite fitting for this concert, nestled between the vineyards on the picturesque Summerhill Wines farm on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. It is one of the top live music venues and was founded in 2020 by the clan of music-loving fanatics who started OMG (Orgasmic Music Gallery). It has a fully operational stage & bar, kitchen facilities, an outside veranda overlooking the vineyards as well as a big lawn area where there will be an open Market selling  THC Craftery, Edibles, Dab Bar, 420 Paraphernalia.

Concerts SA, IKS Cultural Consulting, SAMRO and the Norwegian Embassy made this all possible through their funding. Conquerors Reggae Band member Ocasia ‘Kassie’ Booysen and Daisy Jones Bar joint forces to bring this experience to fruition.
