Dub Master Steve Netshishivhe pays Tribute To The Dub with a Single and Video
Steve Netshishivhe, whom many call Dub Master pays an appropriate Tribute to the Dub by releasing the lead Track from his upcoming Dub Album slated for release in 2023 under the Adziambei Music Academy label. The lead single, Tribute To The Dub is accompanied by a video shot in Makhado at the foot of Songozwi, in the Soutpansberg mountain range in Limpopo .
Long renowned for his Dub tenacity and heavy leniency to the Dub side of Reggae, the Dub Master continues to situate himself as the High Priest of Dub in a country that has a decent fan base of Reggae Dub but with very few artists committed to the sub genre. His music represents a unique addition to Mzansi Reggae as a whole. Tribute to the Dub will be his seventh studio offering to Dub. In this offering Steve plays Bass, Rhythm Guitar and Percussions accompanied by Jayco Chauke on Keys, Ndivhuwo Musetha on Drums and Buhle Nkosi on Sax, and the outcome is a sonic experience that is very satisfying to the ear and even offers a meditative and healing qualities.
His bold ability to stick within the Dub lane, melding local sounds with typical dub effects has made him to be a much sought after musician in his area. Just last year alone, he worked on Tsiko and Vusani, Takalani Mashau, CJ Munyai albums, credited as bassist and did the final mixing on Racky Ranis Album. He then retreated from the scene focusing on his personal life and education. He just had to come out for a brief moment to pay Tribute to The Dub with a single and video.
THE VIDEO
In the video Steve can be seen taking the long road making his way back to the studio with the backdrop of the Songozwi mountain range. Not only does he pay tribute to Dub, but the visuals also pay tribute to his native town where he birthed the love for this music. The images intercept between the Adziambeni Music Academy Studio in Venda – where the music was recorded, mixed and mastered -, with the beautiful landscape of Makhado. Along the way, he links with a Rasta Man who offers him the Best of Venda herb and together they share a spliff, sitting on a rock, reasoning and watching the cows graze. A typtical serene scene of the rurals.
Recorded, Mixed and Mastered at Adziambei Music Academy, the single saw its official release on 20 May 2022 and is available across all digital platforms
