The Invader Collab
The Invader Collab is a collaborative project envisioned by Mr. Lamington in the early days of launching his Concrete Jungle Studio. His mission, through concrete Jungle studio was to spread his wings beyond South Africa. It was through this inventiveness that led him on the path to meeting with Chicha Music out of Zimbabwe. Their first project was Mr. Lamington’s Life is Dancehall Album which was entirely produced by Chicha Music. Since then Chicha Music and Concrete Jungle studios have been vybing together working on many productions that includes the upcoming Riddim featuring an All Female line up from Zim and South Africa under the The Woman’s League banner.
Now, the Invader Collab is an ambitious project that sees Mr. Lamington in collaboration with Dancehall artists from different countries, mostly from the southern region of Africa. The 10 track album has artists from Jamaica to Ghana and back to South Africa with the production still in the hands of Chicha Music representing Zimbabwe. Starting closer to home, he enlisted the services of Mambo Ntema from Botswana and together they are Badder dan Rambo in the track called Frozen. Zai Marn, a hip hop dancehall creative from Swaziland band together with Mr. Lamington to hail Idi Amin. Change Africa was in collaboration with Irraty from Zimbabwe and it acted as an impetus to the entire Project. The title in itself is self explanatory and a clear indication of where Mr. Lamington’s head space is. The album also introduces us to Jah Mason’s younger brother I True Jah representing Jamaica on the track Gwaan Talk. He enlisted another Jamaican Mr. Smooth to revive Game Changer, which was the title of his Album back in 2019. Ghana is well represented in the opening track High Grade Again, the vibe between the two covers the distance from Mzansi to Ghana, same way as the vibes reach Uganda as he and King Sancha Run Town. Back home, the versatile Crosby is there to anchor in the Southy vibes with the track Fly Away. Mr. Lamington decides to keep it Real on the closing track, a collabo with upcoming South African female artist Dimarh.
