KING SHAFT
Lehlogonolo Moropane, widely known as King Shaft, is a multifaceted creative celebrated for his contributions to film and music. While he is widely recognized for his work on acclaimed TV productions such as Isibaya, Uzalo, Skeem Saam, eHostela, and Uzulu no Mhlaba, his deep passion for music has also been a significant part of his journey.
Hailing from Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga, His love for music began in his early years, where he drew inspiration from legendary groups such Bob Marley and the Wailers, Lucky Dube, Burning Spear and Culture. His talent blossomed during his time in Durban in 2010, where he co-founded the reggae group Rastas At Work (RAW) alongside King David, Ras Zipho, Ras Mvuzo, and Lov I.
Returning to Johannesburg, he collaborated with renowned music maestro Ronnie “Teaspoon” Nkosi, who played a pivotal role in refining his sound and working with a live band. Over the years, King Shaft has showcased his unique reggae style—infused with elements of soul, mbaqanga, and blues—at prominent events like Music Imbizo and the Mzansi Reggae Summer Festival. His performances have extended beyond South Africa to Swaziland, with plans to tour Mozambique soon.
In January 2025, King Shaft is set to release his highly anticipated solo album. With his innovative fusion of sounds, he aims to inspire and connect with audiences worldwide, solidifying his legacy as a creative force in both film and music.
