Ras mabandla
Ras mabandla aka Negus I music career started when he grew up listening to the reggae artist like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and many others. His first stage appearance was in 1991 with a group called Makashanti as a lead vocalist and composer.After a couple of years with the group he went solo and started his own venture and performed all around the country in major festivals.
He recorded a couple of singles that are receiving airplay on national radio stations in the period 2010-2011. He continued to work in the studio & the final product was the album entitled “The Journey” which reflects on his artistic journey & it was released in October 2011. The album consists of 12 tight tracks which are 10 vocal tracks with 2 Dub versions.
The album was released on his Positive Vibes label & is now worldwide distributed by Zojak in Santa Cruz. Negus I performed in major festivals around the country like the Grahamstown National Arts Festival & the One Blood Festival to promote the album. He performed at the Alutta Continua One Night Reggae Show with the likes of Black Dillinger, Blak Kalamawi, Jahnett Tafari & many others. He is currently working on his second album which will be published by DubGrooves Publishers in Santa Cruz California & it will be released in the US on the Actual Music record label.
