The parade celebrates the Victory, the heritage, the Dignity, the Patriots, the Royalty and the Spiritual culture of the Rastafari movement globally. – @AdwaMovement
This year marks the 126th Anniversary of the Adwa Victory – The Defeat of European Powers by Africans. The Rastafari Movement in South Africa will be hosting the 7th Annual Adwa Victory Parade in Cape Town CBD. Adwa Victory Day is important as it represents the continued resistance of Colonialism and Neocolonialism in the 21st Century. In 1896 on the 1st and 2nd days of March, the Ethiopian Empire led by Emperor Menelek II and Empress Taytu defeated the Italian Army at Adwa. The victory also defeated the 1878 Berlin project.
Adwa Movement Cape Town also serves as a Cultural platform of the RasTafari Nation in Azania. The platform serves a decolonial educational and counter-hegemonic purpose.
The Adwa Victory Parade will take place on Tuesday March 01 from 9am to 9pm. The parade will kick off at 09:30 am at Manelik Square (Keizengracht Parking) on Darling Street in Cape Town making its way towards the South African Parliament to hand over a memorandum of grievances to highlight the plight of the RasTafari adherents in South Africa.
The Memorandum has these specail focus points:
Stop harrasment of RasTafari households for cannabis
Stop arresting RasTafari adherents for growing ganja
Stop stealing the crops and resources of RasTafari families
Empowerment of RasTafari cannabis farmers with Affordable Licenses

Agrarian Reform that benefits RasTafari small scale farmers in all Provinces.
Following the Parade, the organisers, RasTafari Nation Adwa Movement Cape Town, will host a Movie Screening and Stage show at the Royal RAS Centre in Athlone, Cape Town. There will be ital food, live performances and DJ sets.
