Reggae Sumfest 2017 Celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a Weeklong Takeover of Montego Bay from the 16th to the 22nd of July 2017. The the main events will be happening at Catherine Hall Festival Grounds on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd.
Pato Ranking has been confirmed to perform at this year’s festival, joining a star-studded line-up that includes Sean Paul, Alkaline, Mavado, Sizzla, Jah Cure, Beenie Man, Queen Ifrica, Kabaka Pyramid and many more.
The multi-award winning Nigerian Reggae Dancehall singer and performing artist gained prominence in underground circles doing collabos with relevant artist that would eventually lend him a recording deal in 2010. It was only in 2014 with the release of ‘Girlie O’, that he gained wider and international recognition and placed him in the limelight. He later signed a distribution deal with VP Record. The ‘MyWomanMyEverything‘ hitmaker went on to rake in many awards including the African Artist of the Year for his album God over Everything at the South African Music Awards this year.

This would be the first time that he performs in Jamaica at the Sumfest, and the first African artist to grace the Sumfest stage. He will perform with a Jamaican Band World Love and also taking a film crew with him to document his journey.
Other artists who have performed in Jamaica includes Africa’s King of Reggae, Lucky Dube who performed at the Reggae Sunsplash in 1991; South Africa’s Black Dillinger and Gambia’s Essay perfomed at the STing in 2015.
The 2017 ReggaeSumfest Festival presented by RedStripe in Montego Bay is going all-out in celebrating this 25th Anniversary.
Themed Pre-Parties All Week Long
Sunday July 16 – At postcard-perfect Tropical Bliss Beach with a wet, wild, and risqué Beach Party, The Adult Playground, complete with Beach Bunnies offering beverage service, swim-up ocean bars, wild rides and games, and more surprises.
Monday July 17 – 500 lucky fans board the Treasure Queen yacht in beautiful Montego Bay for a four-hour Party Cruise, followed up by a late-night after-party at Pier 1 Bar & Restaurant on the Bay.
Tuesday July 18 – The always-packed All White Party at Pier 1 with everyone dancing and romancing in their finest and sexiest whites.
Wednesday July 19 – The Blitz: Retro Block Party; everyone comes in outrageous 90’s Dancehall Costumes and hears the best of Jamaica’s signature Dancehall beats that changed global pop and urban music forever, and celebrates the evolution of Dancehall Music in the wild 90’s.
Thursday July 20 – Heavyweight Sound Clash will feature a lineup of International Sound Systems battling for prizes, with guest appearances by legendary Sound Systems from all over the world.
With a line-up featuring many of Reggae’s biggest stars, it’s no wonder its regarded as Jamaica’s premeir music festival.
