Black Prophets Band
Black Prophets Music Reggae Band was founded by Rob Prophet also known as Robert Kanoonya in Johannesburg, South Africa in November 2006. The Roots Reggae Electrifying Band plays live performances exactly the way you hear it on the Music Audio and videos CDs, with lyrical messages similar to that of Lucky Dube, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley. The Prophets band is based in Johannesburg South Africa. They have recorded three Albums, two International and one local album. The International Albums are titled We need love and Holiday of love both having twelve and ten tracks respectively. The local album is called Jennifer with ten tracks. The Prophets play Music invarious languages including English, KiSwahili, Ganda and isiZulu.
The prophets play Music with message to be delivered to Jah Children, and as most people know about Reggae Music, it’s all about daily realities of what happen in our neighbors and our lives.
Black Prophets is comprised of thirteen members, with Rob Prophet as the composer, writer, arranger and the Leading Vocalist. Reggae Veteran Thuthukani Cele – Executive Producer; Ralph Ching’amba- Co-Producer and lead keyboard; Wilbroad Msiska Second Keyboard; Thabang Malete on Drums; Stanley Mwamba – Percussions; Kabelo Mathebula – Bass; Aubrey Kganthe Mphahlele – Lead Guitar, Nompumelelo Khuzwayo, Victoria Nontethelelo and Phindile Ndlovu- Backing Vocals, Banele Simphiwe Ndaba, Mongi Philander Msibi and Chris Joel Mohali Maluleke – wizards of the wind instruments.
Dave Segal from Forest Studio is their official Sound Engineer and and Thuthukani Cele a reputable keyboard player and lead singer/producer is the Executive producer.They are reputable all round reggae veterans, who have worked with Lucky Dube on all his album recording and tours and other South African Internationally recognized artists. They have worked with the likes of, Simple Dread, Kanda Bongo Man and Eddy Grant. They are globaly recognized veterans in sound engineering and quality work production. They have been working with Teel Records, prominently known as Gallo Record company.
