Empress Imani

Empress ImaniEmpress Imani is a Reggae roots, soul Singer, and Songwriter whose talent has earned her various achievements and Awards.

Currently under her belt she has the title of Reggae Star Factor first runner up, Winner of Leeds Contribution to Black Music, Beffta Award Winner for Best Uk Reggae Act 2016 and Female Rising star Award winner 2018 in the Vibes FM Music Chart. 

She was born in the UK but spent much of her childhood on the beautiful island of St Vincent. 

She found her unique singing voice after being singled out for solo performances in community youth events, with a style described as Soulful, Sassy, and Rootsy.

Her professional singer career began after the recording of “Rasta Love” in Spain which drew international recognition and sparked an interest surrounding her.

Imani continued singing at various venues in and around the UK, as a fitting representation for UK female reggae.

In 2015 she was requested to feature at the Black Health Initiative’s Women’s Conference, at the Leeds Civic hall where she was invited to sing for the Lord Mayor. 

Her multi faceted skill set and unique talent enabled her to work with Leeds own Stone Roots band who accompanied her as she took to the big Stage to perform for Thousands at the Annual 2015 Leeds Black Music Festival.

While front lining venues in and outside of the UK, other pivotal moments  include The Legends of Reggae 2016 where Empress Imani supported a plethora of reggae superstars such as the wonderful of Marcia Griffiths, Freddy McGregor, Junior Reid, and I Octane from out of Jamaica. 

Imani went on to be one of the main female Acts on the Uk Reggae Culturefest Tour 2016 with the great Luciano and Angola hit maker Jah Bouks, where she made quite an impact and left a lasting impression, this tour enabled her to grace many well known venues such as the o2 Islington, and the Clapham Grand in London.

As a recording artist, Empress Imani’s Reggae Roots popular iTunes Release “Conscious King” found its way to BBC radio 1xtra’s broadcast, supported by David Rodigan and DJ Target, and since has become an underground hit. Her Militant but melodious song “Falling” has proved to be a popular favourite gaining over 50,000 plays on the music platform soundcloud in a short period of time. Empress Imani weaves a myriad of themes effortlessly into her repertoire, 

After being singled out for her music supported by Studio 12 Leeds, she was then directly involved in several Outreach Music Projects in connection with the 1Xtra Team, such as ” Women in Music “, David Rodigan’s “Journey through Reggae” and BBC introducing” Live Lounge ” where she was a Featured Act. 

She later Joined the line up for the 2016 Female Soul Acoustic Tour where she shared a stage with UK’s own Misha B. 

Her single ‘Pull up dat Reggae Tune ‘ Produced by the Royal Sounds and supported by Alan Raw on BBC Radio Yorkshire entered into the hottest singles chart for 2016 and has been gaining momentum since its release. 

In July of 2017 Imani took to the stage at the famous Wembley Arena in London, where she was the only UK female Support Act to open the show for Grammy award winner Shabba Ranks, Maxi priest, the fantastic Mr Vegas and the unforgettable Barrington Levi.

She is currently riding the wave of her New Single, What’s Good for the Goose produced by Di.-Mon Cut productions, a reggaeville feature and crowd favourite.

She recently enjoyed closing the show at Estepona Reggae Festival in Spain where her performance went down great with the locals.

Empress Imani continues, adding her musical contributions with her latest smash single ‘Over Tonight‘ produced by the Royal Sounds and voted Number 1 UK Single Choice.

With her undeniable versatile, catchy and unique style she continues to be a torch blazer for reggae.
