GHETTO WARRIORS

Ghetto Warriors is a Dancehall/Reggae group from Kraaifontein, a surburb approxiamately 31 km north-east of Cape Town Cape Town. The group consists of three members, Rudy-D, Prophet and Big Voice; with two of the member being actual brothers and the third being “as close as family can be”. The group was formed in 2009 in Wallacedene, drawing inspiration from their musical parents as all three members grew up with parents in the music business. This would later inspire the group to brand their studio as Musical Youth Records Studios, paying tribute to the parents band: Musical Youth Band (CPT).

Starting off as just Performing artists with no recorded song, the trio would go on for five years doing only live performances and would end up becoming one of Cape Towns most popular Dancehall group. During these five years Ghetto Warriors became noted as the first Dancehall grup to come out of Cape Town.

They eventually released their first single in 2015, Lighter ‘n Whistle, produced by Dan Chronic and recorded at RAH Records. The group would go on to record multiple tracks at various recording studios following their debut single. The experiance at different studios would become a driving force in the build up of their own recording space which would be known as Musical Youth Records Studios. Recording from their own home studio with group member Prophet taking the engineer seat, they would independantly release multiple tracks like, “Feeling Original” “No More Guns” “Jah Give” and “Oceans”, while also creating a platform for other local dancehall artist. Many of these tracks would go on to become Cape Town’s Dancehall hits and putting the group in high demand for any local One Love or Reggae Festivals.

The group has gone on to recording and releasing over 30 tracks of their own which most can be found on all major streaming platforms. They released a music video for their studio debut hit Feeling Original and currently working on their debut album Outta Da Ghetto.
