Jah Soldier

Jah Soldier is a third child of 5 children of Mrs. Sophy Ndiyahashu and Elias Maiwashe. Born as Tendani Selby Maiwashe in Dzanani Musanda in 1980 17 March and relocated to Mbilwi (where he stays today) in 1992.

Jah Soldier was born a musician, since he started playing with paint tins, oil tins and any sounding object at a very early age. He also played his father’s Mbila as a child until he was taught how to play a keyboard by Emmanuel Mamphogoro in 1991 at Mr. Mureri’s church in Dzanani.

In 1998 Jah Soldier was recruited by Mr. MG Magoro to join U band as a keyboard player, song writer and as a singer. In 1999 Jah Soldier was recruited by Khakhathi Tshisikule of Khakhathi and Friends were he played keyboards while being a backing vocalist on stage.
In 2004 Tendani Maiwashe wrote and composed 8 complete songs and recruited Masia Dzivhani, John Mabila, Thivhusiwi Manyaga and Mashudu Maiwashe to start rehearsals for the first Jah Soldiers Album. Jah Soldier then met and had an agreement with Itani Sihadi of rwistapac records to record his first album, JAH SOLDIERS recorded “Thavha Ndi Nngana” and released the album late in 2006. This album couldn’t do well in the market. The first ever live performance under the name JAH SOLDIERS was on the Good Friday of April 2007 in Makwarela Community Hall.

In 2010 JAH SOLDIERS have released the second album titled “Innocent Siblings”. This album impressed many fans where people loved more the song “Ndivha funa hani naa” (known to many as vhule-vhule). This album had 11 tracks.

The third album was released in 2014 titled “Nndededze”, according to Jah Soldier, Nndededze is the best known album and has achieved a lot than the previous ones. Nndededze was nominated for 2014 SATMA Awards in Best Reggae Album category.

Through Nndededze Jah Soldier was announced the TSHIMA 2015 best Reggae artist of the year.
