Red I ScorchNzwane Scotchman Ngozo

BEGINNINGS
Nzwane Scotchman Ngozo from Phola/Boikhutso (Lichtenburg) in the North West Province is a reggae Artist born 20th June 1988 in Westonaria, Bekkersdal Gauteng province SA. Moved to North West in 1993 and was introduced by his mother to reggae music that she used to dub (record) from the radio, both Jamaican and South African sounds. Growing up listening to massage music he started to write his own songs that was around 2005. By 2006 already a RASTAFARI yute, made him more interested in the music leading to his first performance on one of the local hip hop sessions alongside motswako acts such as Mofero, Zozman, D-wise and continued from then doing talent competitions and singing during  Rastafari fundraising events and gatherings. By 2011 he had Starter to establish himself as a solo artist by the name RED I SCORCH, spitting fireful lyrics mostly Rastafari inspired”

THE MUSIC
August  2012  through his Ratafari brother, Ras Pablo the Tswanshall MC/promoter, he met Chantty Natural, Tswanshall  artist/engineer/general  from Botswana. The two shared a show in Mafikeng and earlier the following year February 2013 they had another show in Mafikeng. Red I managed to get a passport, and after the show made his first trip to Botswana were Chantty helped the Rasta yute with some professional studio work. He recorded his first  song titled ‘Sing for Jah’ voicing  the Botswana riddim produced by El Supreme and another one called ‘muma’ at Live Wire Recording Studios in Botswana and performed them around the North west . In the same year he again met with Ragga Damdee from Ventersdorp and his crew Zion code including artists such as Ancient Fyah, Ras Ites and Marcus X. In his lyrics he fuses Setswana and Jamaican patois to come up with songs that touch social, political and spiritual issues backed by roots and dancehall and reggae sounds. Together with his fellow artists they describe their style as TSWANSHALL music, originally from Botswana, simply meaning doing reggae in Setswana”. Shared stages with artist like Tidal Waves, Leungo, Tearless, Ragga Damdee, Zion Code and Botswana acts Chantty Natural and Jah gene.

CURRENLY WORKING ON
On May 2014 alongside Ragga Damdee and Marcus x he took another trip to Botswana leading to the making of his debut project titled ‘FIRST FIRE’ produced by Chantty Natural with two riddims by Ras Chepah from Wayouts Records (Venda Limpopo), two by Ras Population from Village Vessel Records (Mafikeng), and one by El Supreme, the rest from Live Wire Records. The album featuring the single” Puo Phaa” was launched December 2015 in his township Boikhutso and is still to be launched in Botswana later this coming summer 2016. A string of singles from the project will soon follow with songs like  new school which is a Tswanshall song that talks to the youth about discipline and righteousness . “First fire” the title track explains who is red I Scorch and busy shooting video for it, and busy with the team working on a promotional tour and is to heading to Cape Town for the first annual Africa Unite Reggae sunsplash this September.
