Esam Blessings Mthembu
Born in South Africa in 1989 to Rastafarian parents; father from Swaziland and Mother from Ethiopia and based Pretoria.
He started playing trumpet at the church Orthodox Church Of Ethiopia from 1999 until 2010 then moved to Pretoria for Studies in Performing Arts with University Of Pretoria. In 2005 he became a Radio D at the Voice of Tembisa (V.O.T) a community radio station playing Reggae Music on Sundays 3pm – 6pm, and it was at this time that listener’s encouraged him to start singing. then in the following years he started to write songs. In 2008 got a sponsorship to go study Performing Arts at University because he did not want to just sing Reggae but to perform it. During his second year of study he performed at hotels and for corporate gigs singing cover songs of Bob Marley,Llucky Dube, Bushman to name a fewand traditional dances with a group called PAMATA. He then moved on to doing gigs with Dj chacha incorporating live bingi/bongo drums, mixing reggae dancehall, and also experimented with Electronic house music with bingi/bongo drums. His first Album was recorded in 2014
