Fusing smoothly soothing melodies with infectiously upbeat rhythms, Salma Queen is an emerging reggae artist from Kenya. She’s been a key player in the worldwide reggae scene for over twelve years now and made a name for herself through collaborations with a number of big names in the industry. To date, the signer has released two singles on streaming platforms and has performed at multiple major festivals in East Africa and Europe.
Salma Queen KE, real name Salima Wanjiru Namelok Nanyor Murakaru, is an established reggae artist and performer hailing from Kenya. She’s been bringing her smooth melodies and infectiously upbeat rhythms to the world for over twelve years now. The singer has collaborated with numerous top players on the worldwide reggae scene and performed at a number of major East African and European Festivals.
To date she’s released two well-received singles on streaming platforms that have seen her grow a steady following worldwide. The first “Chant A Prayer” was put out back in 2019. The empowering reggae anthem is a motivational track inspiring listeners to embrace their inner power. The second single “Cheza Reggae Music” is brimming with positive vibes and acts as the perfect chill track for anybody needing a little pick me up. She was also featured on the compilation album “Irie Riddim”. Salma Queen is currently working with 24/7 music production on their project “Steppers Riddim”, a compilation project featuring a number of emerging reggae acts.
When she’s not busy soothing people with her smooth, upbeat melodies, she’s fighting inequality. Salma is a gender based violence activist and works to further the rights of women and men under the umbrella of YMCA and YWCA. She focuses on youth empowerment, youth advocacy and sexual reproductive health rights.
