Seventon

Jaton Van Reenen

Jaton Van Reenen also known as DJ Seventon was born in the Western Cape, South Africa on 23 March 1991. Seventon attended DR.G J JOUBERT Primary School in the Strand. After a few years Seventon’s family moved to Springbok in the Northen Cape where he attended a new school in Springbok named Dr Izak Van Niekerk Primary School. It’s here  that Seventon’s musical career started where he was raised by his grandparents. Seventon started singing tenor in the school choir. In 2004 Dr Izak Van Niekerk entered  the provincial Istedfid school choir competition and ended 1st in the competition . The school choir went on too win several trophies during that year.

In 2008 Seventon joined Triple 7 Music Rec Studios as an artist. In 2009 he recorded a single called ‘’Dem Seh’’. In 2010 Seventon matriculated at Rusthof Secondary School in Strand, Cape Town. In 2010 Seventon did a new version of his first single ‘’Dem Seh’’ at JTN Production and he opened  for Jamaican artist Lutan Fyah at Legends Farm in Mitchells Plein Cape Town in that same year. He recorded a mixtape #vol.1 with artists like Jack’D’novan, Mister Mezzo and DJ Rexx. 2011 saw Seventon dropping a new single ‘’A Man’’ and went on to perform his new single at the Niyahbingi House of Paarl’s annual Reggea Festival. He later started his own production house called JTN production focusing on mainly producing beats. Seventon recorded ‘My Empress’,’Babylon’ and ‘We Are One’ in 2013 and also an Afrikaans track called ‘Stoute Meisie’. During that year he performed in various places in and around Cape Town, Paarl, Strand, Somerset West, Sir Lowry’s Pass, Eersterivier,UWC,  Belhar and Port Elizabeth. Seventon Launched his first Album called Stone of Life with Natty Natty Records on the 27th September 2014 the day after his first born son Menelik.  He Started working at Natty Natty Records as senior Engineer. He clinched the  I was No.1 on Reverbnation in Cape Town November 2014 as a producer for the Western Cape. In that same year he performed at the Roaring Lion Fest in Atlantis, at the annual Sunny Ocean Festival and played a DJ set at the Greyton Community Fest 2014. Seventon ended the year by recording a number of singles including: Sufferer,  Outta Road, Stop the killing, Missing you and Rasta for real.

In 2015 Seventon produced a Riddim called “Back Yard Vibez Riddim” and it featured various artists like Juggernaut (UK), Diamond White (UK), Fire  Flex (UK), Don-G iTon (Nairobi), Snippa (Nairobi), Dragaan (Nairobi) , Fire Flames (Cape Town), Jah Link  (Cape Town), Kolumbo (JAM. He is working on a riddim called Frass The  Riddim soon to be released with a number of artists from around the world. Seventon is growing fast within in the industry and has recorded a few singles working with a few producers like Pitbull from Pitbull Records with a tune called ‘So Real’ ; DJ Kosiko from Champion sound on a tune called ‘Rasta Bun Dem’  and with Jah Link at Flyweh records on a chune called ‘SpotLight’. Seventon recorded 20 songs already this year with a few of his singles being played on Bush radio 89.5fm and Radio Helderburg 96.3fm and interviews as well. Seventon also featured on Cape TV’s program Mlilo fire talks with host LnG Smile talking about his number one spot on the Reverbnation charts for Western Cape.

Seventon will be dropping his first DVD on the 25 December 2015 produced by Black Flames Edutainment from Malawi. Back Flames helped Seventon in shooting his first music video. Seventon has become a popular figure in the industry. He started his own record label called LION MUZIC RECORDS. Seventon is making waves all around South Africa with his growth in the industry. Lion Muzic released its first official project In October 2015 Justice Train Riddim featuring Wipeout, Jah Link, Akadaulo, Snyppa flex, Diamondwhite, Lipy-G, King Ashwet and Seventon.
