Black Dillinger Embarks on the City To Hood Legacy Tour ahead of his Album Release: The Legacy

In 2015 Black Dillinger performed in a fully packed arena in Munich, Germany. He and his Manager Otis, The Jah Muzik Productions duo, boarded a flight to Munich to perform at one of Germany’s biggest music festival; Theatron Open Air Festival. They had secured the booking, then linked up with a Next Generation Band, a German Band, of which they only had one day of rehearsals, to back up Dillinger. He delivered a world-class performance which is characterised by the love of his continent Africa, and his native country, South Africa. A year later, they released a follow-up album; Black Dillinger Live in Munich. That’s how Black Dillinger roll, he makes The Connect to make things work.

In as much as he has performed in these spaces with large crowds on international stages; for Dillinger, Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats performing for the home crowd., performing at home. Hence, the Legacy City to Hood Tour. Each time he releases a project, it is always preceded by a city to city Tour. He has been doing that ever since he returned from Berlin, where he had stayed for 7 years. One of the first thing he wanted to do, and actually did, was a City to City Tour. Fresh from the Berlin Buzz, he brought that energy with him, and he reach the Western and Eastern Cape. Self Organised. Self funded, The Connect with promoters, club owners, and fans make it happen.

His award-winning album, Mavara is King, had its fair share of City to Hood promo tour and that could have even contributed to him winning the award. He had gone first to the people, he had taken the music to the people. His aim is to try and reach every space where they play Reggae music. Whether it is a big stage with a band or at the street bash or a pub, or Shisa nyama, Dillinger always puts outs his best, because performing and sharing the music is his greatest part of his artistry.
