DJ Coppershot and Bobotical set to Play at Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival 2017
The 2017 edition of the Basha Uhuru Youth Festival a collaboration between Constitution Hill and Nando’s aims to showcase young emerging artists and cultural practitioners within the creative field through music, film, theatre, art, seminars and networking platforms.
Basha uhuru was Established in 2013 to Provide a platform to Showcase a broad Spectrum of artistic Expression by young Creatives. This fifth edition, Features art exhibitions, Film screenings, creative Dialogues, a heritage Cycling tour, a comedy Picnic and music Festival, over the five Days of the festival.
This year, included on the main stage lineup is the Reggae Dancehall duo, DJ Coppashot and Bobotikal – The Tag Team. They are set to bring Reggae and Dancehall to a cross over youth market. The Duo has been pushing boundries and breaking stereotypes by playing at big multi genre events that are not traditionally Dancehall set up. Thereby breaking the isolation of Reggae and Dancehall and making it part of the South African music tapestry and at the same time introducing new audiences to the genre.

Earlier this year they played at the biggest Hip Hop summit in Africa, Back To The City, and they have been at it for 4 years in a row. This year they were joined by Dancehall Queens Fire Lady and Shorts to bring the full dancehall experience to a hip hop crowd; and the response was massive.
The Tag Team , as they are popularly known, will be promoting and spreading Reggae and Dancehall vibes to the over 10000 Basha Uhuru Audiences on Saturday, June 24 at the Basha Uhuru Sounds of Freedom Music Festival. They will be joining prominent names in SA Music industry including: Thandiswa Mazwai, DJ Kenzero, Twins on Decks; Youngen Black, Sistematic, Gigi Lamayne, Dope Saint Jude and Nonki Phiri among others.
The Basha Uhuru Freedom Fest will be held at Constitution Hill 21 – 25 June 2017. All Events are Free, but tickets from Webtickets are required for entry.
