Global Adwa Victory celebrations 2023

The 8th annual Adwa Victory parade – Cape Town

Adwa Victory Parade is celebrated on March 1 & 2 globally, the victory at the Battle of Adwa in 1896 when the colonisation of Africa was disrupted and the western powers defeated by an African empire.

The 8th annual Adwa Victory parade will take place on 1st March 2023 in CT CBD.

On this occasion, grassroots cultural workers of The RasTafari movement with the pan-African civil society is organizing a parade for 2023– Global Adwa Victory.

Considering that it’s crucial for all pan-African militants, decolonization practitioners and Ethiopian patriots to attend in order to deal with issues in a visible way, protesting for the human, constitutional and sacramental rights of RasTafari adherents, it’s important that cannabis using communities show mutual interest and that we unite in the battle for cannabis rights (decriminalisation) and industrialisation. On this day we are protesting for the rights of RasTafari communities across South Africa who is discriminated against and marginalized because they utilize the cannabis plant.

Calling all that will attend to carry Lion of Judah flags, posters and messages to raise awareness of the issues and everyday violation of human rights by state law enforcement. At the march there won’t be a focus on individual organisations.

The gathering will take place (Wednesday) at 8:00 on Keizersgacht Parking CT CBD, and the march starts at 8 AM. Adwa battle Day Parade 2023 Route: Parade will begin on Keizengracht parking lot in front Cape Peninsula University of Technology: E-Learning Centre area and continue along Darling Street. The parade then turns left onto Buitekant Street, takes a right onto Roeland Street, towards Parliament / statue, and returns to Buitekant Street: ends at Cape Castle of Good Hope

In front of the burnt parliament building we will briefly stop, chant and state demands. The demands that receive special focus will be those that relate to RasTafari Ganja Rights, the right to education, and the right to a land for farming and human settlement, as the prerequisites for life and human dignity.

All grassroots allies are encouraged to come and bring their community – this is a celebration for all.
