King Mas – Zulu Warrior
King MAS has always been diverse in his approach to music and has never been one to shy away from tackling challenging subject matter without fear. A true musical warrior, the musical Obeah man has once again channeled the energy of African ancestral powers to address the realities facing many people in these times over a classic Dancehall rhythm which adds a vibrant flavor to an already powerful message.
King MAS is based in Boston on the east coast of the US. However, having been to South Africa several times, the King invokes the warrior spirit of the amaZulu ancestors in response to the oppression and police brutality that Afrikans in the diaspora are experiencing. The sounds of the “Up Close” riddim, resurrected as the “Luv” Riddim this past summer (and made popular by newcomer Tory Lanez), provides the perfect canvas for this social commentary mixed with a history lesson as only the Grammy award winning King can deliver it.
