Massive Turn out for Konshens Show in Zimbabwe

Zimbabweans came out in numbers at the Castle Lager Summer Celebration gig at Old Georgians Sports Club on Saturday, 10 October,  to witness the performance of Konshens, for the first time in Zimbabwe. Konshens himself was thrilled with the turn out as expressed via a series of posts on his Facebook page.

Thank you Zimbabwe… Felt the love and energy. Konshens

Despite the technical glitches and generator complications during his performance – of which the Zimbabwe Newspapers, NEWSDAY, has a blow by blow account, and the Herald reported from the organisers point of view –  the show went on and Konshens returned to the stage twice, to please his fans.

The event which was co-organised by the Italian Embassy in conjunction with Musica 2015, was a celebration of 120 years of the Castle Lager brand, and also featured South African band Beatenberg, Zimdancehall powerhouse Winky D, Mozambican saxophonist and composer Ivan Mazuze, Italian drummer Marco Maggiore, DJ Dino Moran from South Africa, mbira princess Hope Masike and local Afro-rock fusion band Evicted. It was Konshens who headlined the event and whom the massive came out in numbers for.

Zimbabwe, I love you, but I have to go! I am told the generator is about to die! – Konshens
