The “More Fyah Riddim” is the first riddim-selection presented by the Berlin based label Yutman Records. After the riddim, written by Jon Moon, and first published on his debut album TRUST as “More Fyah“ he forwarded it to different artists to create a compilation. The compilation boasts eleven artists from different countries, including Mzansi’s very own Daddy Spencer, Crosby and Zoro.
The More Fyah Riddim is a slow paced roots reggae riddim, influenced by the struggles of mankind all around the world.
Lutan Fyah, one of the industry’s most loved artists is well known for expressing social injustices through his music. On “Crumble Dem A Go Crumble” he features Top Banger and the duo gives us hope that surely one day there will be liberation for the people.
With the same theme, Daddy Spencer & Dan I Locks question the powers that be “How do you sleep at night when you keep people under oppression?” Junior Randy features with a German tune titled Klotz Am Bein which translates to “it is a millstone around my neck” connoting a heavy burden which limits your freedom.
As always reggae generates a range of emotions, however the More Fyah Riddim significantly keeps you mindful of the daily struggle of black people. Jon Moon succeeded in producing a relaxing and enjoyable compilation, this is definitely a positive contribution to Black History Month.
