An upcoming reggae band, Natty Lions won the Best Reggae Song at the 6th Annual South African Upcoming Music Awards (SAUMA) at a gala ceremony held on May, 04 at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg. The awards, organised by Huvera Entertainment are aimed at recognizing excellence in the music industry for upcoming musicians and artists.
Natty Lions is a roots Reggae band from Limpopo. It was formed in 2016 by Ndivhuwo Kingman Mulugisi Mamafha aka Ras Natty and Nndanduleni King Elijah Dombo aka Natty King. They formed the band after a chance meeting with producer MC Andrew Nkhumeleni of Unik Prodakshin Studio based in Tshiawelo, Soweto and they immediately started work on their first project together. Their first output came in 2017 with the release of the album titled Jah Rastafarah followed by another album titled Legalize it. They won best Reggae Song award for ‘Mary my Love’ off their albume Jah Rastafarah and they are already back in the studio working on their third album.
