South Africa’s popular singjay NC Dread, the ‘Godfidence hit maker, got a pleasant surprise when news came that he was nominated at the Ghana SA Music Awards. This is the maiden edition of an annual event, focused on Ghanaian music makers across Africa and the world. NC Dread is nominated in the International Act Southern Africa Category, alongside Lady Zamar, DJ Maphorisa, Major League, and Babes Wodumo.

The nomination follows his recent debut in the Africa Top 40 Weekly Charts hosted by TransAfrica Radio.net . His single, ‘Steal My Woman’ released earlier this year made it to the charts and went on to stay on for 4 weeks.  The single also premiered in Ghana at the popular Yaad Settings show on hitz1039fm, hosted by King Lagazee, winner of Best Dancehall Reggae DJ  at the Ghana DJ awards 3 times in a row. In 2017 NC Dread collaborated with heavyweight artists from 7 different African countries on a project called ‘Baddest’; the biggest collaboration song among Africa’s Dancehall stars, and three of them from Ghana: Shatta Wale, AK Songstress and Mavluz. He has worked with other artists from Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and he is not about to slow down.

For his next project he has teamed up with Zambian Pop superstar, Salma Sky on a new track titled “Holiday” produced by award winning Jamaican Producer ZJ Dymond. The single will have its official release in the first weeks of September, and will see NC broadening his audiences and his brand even further.

This will be his second nomination in the International Act category, the first nomination he got at the BASS Awards – Ghana’s music awards dedicated to awarding excellence in Reggae and Dancehall – in 2016.

It was through these collaborative efforts with a few artists from Ghana that he caught the attention of the organizers which in turn earned him a nomination. The Nominations were done online from the 15th to 30th of July and the award ceremony will take place on the 3rd of November 2018 in South Africa. Voting will start again on September, 01 until Monday, 15 October 2018.
