The annual Bob Marley ‘One Love’ Festival and Rasta Fair has reached its 10th year of celebrating the International Reggae Icon’s birthday. Nkulee Dube, daughter of another International Reggae Icon, has been confirmed as the headline act at the One Love Fest 2019. This is one of the very few and rare occasions that Nkulee performs in her native South Africa, as she is mostly engaged in international gigs. Last year around this time, she performed at Rebel Salute Fest in Jamaica and was on tour in Europe and the Americas for the remainder of the year. Finally South Africans will get to experience her energetic and electrifying stage performances after a long while, as she will be returning for the second time to this festival.
The exciting line up also includes The Meditators Reggae Band, Durban’s colourful and hardest working band. The Meditators have always been on the line up since the inception of the festival as it is their brain child and have played a major role in seeing to the festival growth. The band promotes clean, positive and healthy living through their music and embodies the principle of One Love in action.
2018 SATMA Nominee, Sizwe Zakwe made it to the line up and will be dishing out music from his nominated album. Jahnett Tafari will travel from the Eastern Cape to return to Durban to grace the Bob Marley One Love Fest stage one more time. The Sound from the East, Durban’s number one sound, HottWaxx Family, together with DJ Feela will entertain reveler before, during and after performances.
This year promises to be exciting and it comes with a some changes; the venue has been changed, from uShaka Marine to North Beach Amphitheatre on North Beach Road. The Durban Reggae Explosion Collective will be hosting The most authentic, homegrown roots based festival in SA.
The Bob Marley “One Love” Festival and Rastafair will take place on Sunday, 03 February at the North Beach AMPHITHEATRE from 10am to 10pm and its Free Entry. Fun day for the Family.
