Whatta Bam Bam is the second single from the Dancehall Trio Pepsin, Fruitystar and Momo Dread. A dancehall track set to take over the airwaves on its official release on 30 June 2017. This is the second installment of Maximum Stylez Records’ Pepsin & Fruitystar collaboration with Momo Dread. Their first project together was the hit single and video ‘Satisfy My Soul’ that got rotation on Channel O, play listed on the National Radio Stations Metro FM and Lesedi FM and had its premiere on YFM’s RaggaTak with Dancehall Barons Admiral and Jah Seed.
The formula proved successful and created such hype for the three artists that, when a Hip Hop producer was out looking to match his beat with the right vocals, the trio came highly recommended by their peers. They took the hip hop beat laced it with some dancehall lyrics and each added their unique Ragga flow to come out with a banging tune intended to be the Mzansi dancehall anthem for this year. The title ‘Bam Bam‘ is borrowed from a Jamaican slang for a boxing or fighting clash, declaring their fight and effort to enter Mzansi Dancehall into the main stream of South African music and charts.
Speaking on the song Momo Dread stated: “We have come to shake the dancehall world and to let people know that Danchall/reggae is a force not to be taken lightly, the massive is starting to follow and want more of it. Dancehall come to take over.”
Pepsin added: “Maximum Stylez, People dem love we, We give them what they want, and we give them what they love, Well then you see, even when they hate, nothing is going to change. MzansiDancehall is the next big thing.”
Fruitystar then expresses the collective desire for recognition as he states: “My view on the song is that the song represents a cry for freedom for Reggae & Dancehall to be recognized and be given a chance to prove that it can be amonst the best or even better, kick ass”
The song is produced and distributed by Maximum Styles Records and Publishing. The single is now available on all major online digital stores, to be followed by a national promotional Club tour at a City near you.
Maximum Stylez Records is slated to release a compilation Album with Pepsin and Fruitystar collaborating with various Reggae and Dancehall artists. “Whatta Bam Bam” featuring Momo Dread is taken from this upcoming compilation album High Stylez.
