Rasta Riddim Volume 1 from Yutman Records
Yutman Records is gearing up to release two volumes of Rasta Riddim, conceptualized from the successful run of the single “Rasta Is” by Jon Moon off his debut album ‘Trust’ published three years ago. The Berlin based label has gathered Seven singers and songwriters who have reinterpreted the riddim with their own lyrics and melodies. The first volume is set for release on September 18, 2020 with a varied selection of international artists such as Exile Di Brave and Keishera from Jamaica, Queen Fyah from Malawi and South Africa’s Julian Asher who is based in Berlin. The second selection is already on the way and features two more South African artists: Vido Jelashe, who also lives in Berlin and Tswanshall prolific artist Red I Scorch.
The Riddim is full of vibes and aptly titled as it carries messages that reflect the spirit of Rasta livity. “Look Into the Sky” by Cologne based Reggae band Memoria reflects on the sun hiding behind the clouds. Akeem Garrison gives a voice to the brothers and sisters of the Rastafari movement in “Reaching For The People”
Keishera delivers “Beautiful Girl” which harks back on the inner beauty and the self-confidence of femininity while Exile Di Brave is the voice of liberation and justice in “Sing A Song Rastaman”. Queen Fyah stands firm in “Never Lose My Way” guided by the protecting hand on the path of life. Junior Randy reminds us of the respect for Mother Earth in “Eine Welt” and Julian Asher expresses deep feelings in When I Cry.
The second riddim selection will be released on Yutman Records following their debut riddim “More Fyah Riddim“, produced by Jon Moon and mastered by Ganjaman at Planet Earth Studios in Berlin.
