Red Carpet Live Vol. 1
The Red Carpet Live Vol. 1 by Various Artists is a compilation songs from the Live recording of Mzansi Dancehall Red Carpet Concert that took place on March 25, 2022 at Joburg Theatre, Johannesburg. The all glitz and glamour event was conceived, organised and executed by Maximum Stylez Records and Publishing, with the idea of giving the Reggae Dancehall massive that experience of walking the Red Carpet while at the same time showcasing talent associated with the label. The main attraction of the night was the listening session of 3 albums: Pepsin – Reflections; Skeleton Blazer – He Crowned I Emperor; Reign Afrika – Trail Blazer. All three artists perfomed a selection of songs from their respective albums. Skeleton Blazer and Reign Afrika’s (FrontLines Productions) albums later got nominated at the South African Music Awards 2022 in the Best Reggae Album category. Also billed to perform on the night were Moon Queen, Sunshine, Nthabi Soul and Blakka Yut.
Joburg theatre is perfectly suited for the red carpet occasion and no stranger to Dancehall nights like this. About 4 years ago, Maximum Stylez Records and Publishing recorded a live DVD for the launch of Pepsin & Fruity Star High Stylez Forever Album at the same Joburg theater, at the Fringe. Even then, the occassion and event was giving off a classy vibe, as a matter of fact, it was all about High Style, high fashion, Fruity & Pepsin performed dressed in three piece tailored suits and the red carpert was rolled out even then. It is possible that the Red Carpet idea developed from that event.
In 2022, the idea had taken shape and it was officially launched as the Mzansi Dancehall Red Carpet Concert. Hosted by Lasbon Shatta the Entertainer and DJ Mystikal Ebony, the highly competent Maximum Stylez Band backing all the performances; guests dressing up to the occasion and looking elegant the event can only be reviewed as a success.
