Reggae at the Drama Factory with The Rivertones Band

Cape Town’s Rivertones Band will be performing at the Drama Factory in Somerset west, Cape Town on Sunday 8 December 2024.

The Drama Factory is a charming, intimate theatre committed to providing entertainment that appeals to a wide range of tastes. Their mission is ‘to offer an affordable and inspiring space where productions can bring their creative visions to life and captivate our audiences with high-quality entertainment’

The Sunday of December 8 will be dedicated to Reggae where the sounds of Eddy Grant, Bob Marley and UB40 will take centre stage, performed by The Rivertones Band. Patrons will be jamming to timeless classics like the once Apartheid banned song by Eddy Grant ‘Give Me Hope Joanna’, targeted at the South African apartheid National Party government and apartheid culture and which he performed at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday concert. They will also cover some other popular classics by UB40, UK’s pop reggae band which gave us hits like ‘Red Red Wine,’ ‘Kingston Town and.’ ‘Can’t Help Falling Inlove.’ The Rivertones were the supporting act for UB40 when they performed in South Africa in Cape Town, 2023 (Grand West) and in Durban (ICC), and at the UB40 after-party event at Grand West in 2023. The people’s favourite Bob Marley will also be remembered through classics like ‘One Love,’ ‘No Woman No Cry,’ ‘Is This Love’ and ‘Buffalo Soldier.’ The set will be rounded off by original songs from The Rivertones Band.
