The international tour of the macro-reggae event on tour from March to July in 30 venues and festivals in a dozen countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa
More than 30 presentation parties, events and musical meetings in a dozen of countries give wings to the globetrotting Rototom. The international reggae festival began its international tour last March, which will take the essence of the macro cultural event until next July to theatres and festivals of three continents.
After stopping off in Geneva (Switzerland), in the Italian town of Torino di Sangro, in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, and in Madrid, the Rototom Sunsplash is back on the ‘road’ to bring the 26th edition closer to the public, which will be held in Benicàssim (Spain) from August 16 to 22, 2019.
This Friday, May 17, within the Maig di Gras festival in Burriana (Castellón) with which Sunsplash collaborates, the festival will be present with the Italians The Uppertones, who will perform in the Plaza Mayor. Also this Friday, the Rototom will branch out to the Sala Dabadaba in San Sebastian with the Irie Vibz party that will unite DJ Akademy, Peter Youthman, Jr Roy and Dapach.
The weekend will continue with the same intensity: with four appointments that converge on Saturday May 18 in Zurich (Switzerland) with Duane Stephenson & Jah Lil; Berlin (Germany), with Skatalites and Northern Lights; and, once again on Mediterranean soil, in Denia and Tarragona.
On Saturday, May 25, the reggae festival will fly, Trans-Atlantic, to Bogotá, where it will share its vibes on stage at the outdoor theatre La Media Torta within the Rototom in Colombia. It also stops off the same day in Vigo (with Doppler Hall, with Chalart58, High Paw and Vigodubclub) and in Valencia (Radio City with the Jamaican Johnny Osbourne). This spring tour in May will conclude on Thursday the 30th at the El Sol venue in Madrid (with Real Vibes, Jahmaik, Figue Blackup, Mas Jahma) after having planted its festive seed in thirteen different destinations around the planet in just one month.
June begins in Lisbon (Portugal) with Earl Gateshed, Lioness Font, Militanti Roots Band and Plantada playing in the Titanic Room. Also on June 1, in Mallorca, there will be another launch party with Sara Lugo, La Puta Opepé, Virtus and Revolutionary Brothers in front. Another double whammy, will go live on June 8 with the presentation parties at London’s Trojan Club (with Wassie One, Nembokid, Mistah Brown and Texas Ranger) and in Seville. A day before, on the 7th, the reggae macro event will be felt at the Percumon in Sagunto.
Modena (Italy), with Jah9; the Top Ranking Fest in Sant Carles de la Ràpita (Tarragona) and Las Dalias (Ibiza), with Rapsusklei, form part of the Rototom Sunsplash tour on June 14, 15 and 16, respectively. The festival will export its essence to the Sala Apolo of Barcelona on the 19th of the same month with Panda Dub, Vito War and Green Light DJ, while the 20th will do the same in the Plaza del Carmen in Alicante.
The Bergamo Reggae Fest (Italy) will close the round of events for the month of June, with the performance of Agent Sasco on the 29th.
July will see the tour return to Las Dalias and the Concerts of Viveros in Valencia, which will bring together, on the evening of the 11th, Green Valley, The Dance Crashers, Jamaleónics and Borumbaia. A day later, on Friday the 12th, Iseo & DodoSound, Little Pepe, DJ Lion and Jamaleónics will sound with Sunsplash at the Marenostrum festival in Fuengirola.
The final stretch of the Rototom international tour will be held on July 18 at the Big Up Sound Fest in Helsinki (Finland) and in the Boukrim Vibes of the Tunisian Al Huwariyah (July 25-27). The Pandorga Fest of Ciudad Real will bring the curtain down on the transcontinental tour of the Rototom Sunsplash 2019 on July 27, just two weeks before the official start of the 26th edition: Stand up for Earth.
