Skank and the Roots have been invited to perform at one of Germany’s prestigious Reggae Festival in Dortmund, The Ruhr Reggae Summer Festival taking place on 26-28 May, 2016. They will be sharing the stage with the likes of Alpha Blondy, Jah Cure, Anthony B, Pablo Moses, Cocoa Tea and Max Romeo. Germnay’s finest bands,Sound Systems and artists form the bulk part of the line up which includes Sara Lugo and Pow Pow Movement.
The five piece band from Uitenhage was formed in the 90’s and has consistently been performing in the Eastern Cape live scene and festivals. They were nominated for the Dancehall Reggae Mzansi Awards in the Best Reggae Band Category in 2015. Led by the charismatic Nkenke ‘Skank’ Mooi, the band performs original compositions with a good skanking vibe that touches the soul.
They will be flying the South African Flag High up in Germany where they will be performing for the first time, taking to the world the Reggae vibes from South Africa.
