Shortly after Shatta Wale Release an entire song dedicated to Cassper Nyovest talking about how similar their journeys are (Shatta & Cassper), Stonebwoy releases the visuals of the song Wame which he recorded with Cassper in April this year. Cassper pondered loooong and hard before responding to the tweet from Shatta. He did the diplomatic thing and thanked Shatta.
The single Wame, by Stonebwoy and Cassper Nyovest was well received by Stonebwoy fans more than Cassper’s fans cos most do not know about Stonebwoy, let alone Dancehall nor any Dancehall artist in SA. Stonebwoy’s audience in SA is in Dancehall and Reggae circles, that is where he should reach out to. But then again business got in the way.
Stonebwoy is also somewhat becoming a serial collaborator. This is his second song with Cassper Nyovest, and in his 23-track album EOM, 15 are collaborations. He is becoming a Public Relation project and moving away from artistry.
The last attempt of Cassper Nyovest foray into Dancehall Reggae was a disaster and degrading. The song titled No Worries with an accompanying video was distasteful. We wrote about it here. Cassper Nyovest on that Reggae Tip.
Cassper and Stonebwoy have a symbiotic relationship, both tapping in each other’s fan bases to increase market share. This is straight from the PR books. We want music and artistry, not PR campaigns please, or rather, it should not be this obvious.
