Trinity House, A Rasta Space Doing it for the Culture
“We always believe anything is possible through the power of the Trinity”
Trinity House SA, Est 2017, is a “Rasta” Business Center operating in Katlehong, a large township in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. It lies 28 km south-east of Johannesburg between two other townships of Thokoza and Vosloorus, collectively called KATHORUS. It is one of the few operations that caters primarily for the Rasta Community in Gauteng with a venue capacity of 4000 Outdoors and indoors
They chose the name Trinity from the quote and belief in the “Power of the Holy Trinity”. “We always believe anything is possible through the power of the Trinity thus, Trinity House,” – explained Dan Maduna, co-director of Trinity House – “as we aim to be the best, unique House, one of its kind in SA and the Globe. The house more focused on Arts and Culture Promotion more time.”
Dan “General” Maduna and Thulani ‘Abba Amlak’ Msibi, the founding members of Trinity House, were simply selling fast food at the Reggae Sessions held at Dan’s yard, in typical South African fashion of hosting dance sessions in the streets in the ghetto or at a park, community hall or at someone’s home or yard. Meanwhile, there was an abandoned park (Freedom Square) turned dumping site opposite Abba Amlak home and the space had been used for Reggae Dub sessions in the past by Abba. They decided to clean up the space and convert it into what is now called Trinity House which has a massive outdoor space and great potential for business and community development. Later they expanded and opened a small Branch in the Free State Province – Trinity House Free State – Run by Ras Eddy Nacabeni; where they hosted an annual “Home to my Roots event in Clarens Free State with Gauteng DJs in 2018 & 2019. 100% Reggae local Show and in 2019 Coronation Dance.
Arts and Culture Promotion, Event Hosting, Artists and DJs Management, is at the core of their business. A center that caters for Convenient Rasta and Non-Rasta Food, Accessories and Craft and many more. They host mainly Rasta events, but not only, as they live within a community that has many talents and skills across the board. Their community involvement had them hosting functions like Community meetings, Memorial Services, (Hip Hop) King Rawyals’ Slimy Season Show, Collaboration with FOC Benoni Market Day Event. They are collaborating with NGO’s Rasta Indaba and Impumelelo Children Home through its’s leadership.

Their closest and fruitful collaboration is with Rawyal Records where they are currently working on unreleased projects like Trinity House Riddim Vol 1 and 2. Trinity House can be described as the best Kasi (ghetto) modern culture entertainment entity that encompasses the spirit of self reliance within the Rasta Reggae Community. At their events one can expect Ital food, Refreshments, Unity, Freedom, Soul fullfilling experience and meeting people from across the globe. No alcohol is sold at the venue, but this also depends on the type of event.
Dan Maduna, best sums it all up here: “We are unique in that we are one of the very few the Mansions in the movement that do what we do. We have a venue to host shows, we have our own DJs and MC’s, good relations with the best and biggest sound systems in the province. We have in-house stage, tents and stretchers. We intergrate other sectors within the Reggae community and now have good relations with a cousin clothing company that also clothe us and our artists (ZOOKEEPA) We are the best up-coming entertainment House in the Reggae Movement. Our target is all Arts and Culture lovers and the community at large with no segregation.”
